Making Strides Against Breast Cancer

On Saturday, October 12, 2002 The Jim & Lance Show  participated in our first Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event in Flint, MI.  This event is another event sponsored by the American Cancer Society in their diligent battle against Cancer.  The event took place on the ground of the Flint Institute of Arts.  While the Relay for Life benefits cancer research in general, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer focuses on - what else - breast cancer.  We also learned that, while not nearly as often as women do, MEN get breast cancer as well.

On Saturday, October 11, 2003 we participated in our second event.

On Saturday, October 10, 2004 we participated in our third event.

Due to a scheduling conflict we were unable to participate in the 2005 Making Strides event, but hope to be able to in 2006.

About Making Strides

If it hasn't already, breast cancer will touch you or someone you know. The disease will strike nearly 200,000 times this year and claim more than 40,000 lives.

Since 1993, Making Strides has been the American Cancer Society's rallying cry to raise awareness and dollars to fight breast cancer. Last year, 325,000 walkers across the country collected more than $26 million.

Making Strides pledges are dedicated to life-saving American Cancer Society research, education, patient support and advocacy programs to defeat this disease.

All Making Strides events are conducted on a weekend morning and are typically five miles in length. This year, more than 70 will be conducted throughout the country.
