Relay for Life Performers
We put it off as long as we could, but we've been moved by so many fantastic
artists at the Relay for Life events that we've performed at that we had to
start a page of links to some of them. We've worked with well over
one-hundred performing artists in our time with the Relay for Life, some ok,
some good, some great, and some fantastic. It is here that we will
share links to those fitting in the fantastic category. It is not
our intent to provide in-depth information about these artists (that's why
there's a link to their website), but to give you our impression of and feeling
of how overwhelmed we were when sharing the stage with each of these extremely
talented acts.
In each case click on the image to open up a new browser window and visit
their site. These links will be posted in reverse chronological order, the
most recent additions on top.
Rachel Williams is yet another performer who was absolutely
astonishing at the South Washtenaw Relay for Life. Unfortunately
her performance time was sadly cut short because the person in charge of
the event before hers took THREE TIMES the amount of time she was
allotted. Once Rachel took the stage and started singing, we knew
we were in the presence of someone fantastic. At only 18 she gave
a performance that others much more seasoned could learn from.
Fiddler's ReStrung is a group of High School students (yes, high
school students) from the Saline area. When we found out that
fiddler's were going to be performing at the South Washtenaw Relay for
Life we were a bit skeptical...and then they played. The sound of
the music was as astonishing as it was awe-inspiring. For an hour
they held us captivated with the quality of the music, the versatility
of the performers, and the extreme professionalism the high school
students displayed. To say that it raised goose bumps on our arms
would scarcely touch the impact this group had on us.
Empty Pockets, a group we ran across at the Midland Relay for Life
in 2004. We shared the stage with this awesome group of guys and
they simply blew us away. These guys are truly talented musicians
and singers and we've never shared the stage with a group that did such
an incredible range of music.
First up is the website for Dave Kellan, who was the Mid-Michigan
Idol winner for 2004. Dave performed at the Midland Relay for
Life in 2004 and was so incredible that Jim and Lance simply stood in
awe for his entire performance. For days afterwards we would
discuss how on earth he wasn't chosen to go farther in his Idol quest,
because it was an absolutely show-stopping performance.
Donna Lee Holman and Yours Truly are a group we've had the pleasure
of sharing the stage with twice, both times at the Clarkston Relay for
Life. A 5-piece band fronted by the VERY TALL Donna Lee Holman,
this group does both original music and covers and is great for an
afternoon of laid-back, no-pressure listening.
